Craftsman: Sears-Era Reliability, Chamberlain Internals
Craftsman garage door openers are built by The Chamberlain Group — the same manufacturer behind Chamberlain and LiftMaster — and sold through Sears and Lowe’s. That means they share the same Security+ 2.0 rolling-code radio protocol, the same myQ smart-home ecosystem, and many of the same internal components. Pueblo has a large installed base of Craftsman chain-drive units from the Sears era, plus newer belt-drive models sold through Lowe’s. Whether you have a legacy 139-series or a current CMXEOCG model, we carry the parts and know the system.

FAQ
Craftsman Opener Questions
Is Craftsman the same as Chamberlain or LiftMaster?
Yes — Craftsman openers are manufactured by The Chamberlain Group, the same company that makes Chamberlain and LiftMaster. They share the same Security+ 2.0 rolling-code protocol and myQ smart-home platform, which means parts often cross over and our technicians know the internals as well as they know any Chamberlain unit.
My Craftsman opener hums but won’t move — what’s wrong?
A humming motor that won’t drive the door almost always means a stripped plastic drive gear, a broken spring putting too much load on the motor, or a seized trolley carriage. The motor is running but can’t turn the drive. We’ll diagnose it on-site and tell you exactly which part needs replacing before we do any work.
How do I program a Craftsman remote to my opener?
Press and release the Learn button on the motor unit (usually yellow or purple on Craftsman models), then within 30 seconds press and hold the button on the remote until the opener’s light blinks or clicks. On Security+ 2.0 units the light will blink twice to confirm. If the remote still won’t sync after two attempts, the remote may need replacing or the receiver board may have an issue — give us a call.
Can I connect my Craftsman opener to myQ?
If your Craftsman opener has a yellow Learn button and was made after 2011, it likely supports myQ. Download the myQ app, press the Learn button, and follow the in-app pairing steps. Older openers without a yellow Learn button may need a myQ Home Bridge accessory. If you’re having trouble getting it to connect or stay online, we can troubleshoot or handle setup during a service visit.
How long do Craftsman garage door openers last?
A well-maintained Craftsman opener typically lasts 10–15 years. Chain-drive models need periodic lubrication and chain tension checks; belt-drive models tend to run quieter and longer with less maintenance. If your unit is over 10 years old and having issues, we’ll give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
